Why the Kiwi can't fly

Why The Kiwi Can’t Fly?
L.I To write a ‘pourquoi’ story explaining how/why something is.

A long, long time ago before the dinosaurs there was a Kiwi, a Kiwi quite different than the Kiwi you know now, she was bubbly, enthusiastic and very friendly. One day she was watching her, very large egg, while minding her own business, soon finding herself to be very hungry, and so she decided that she would leave her egg to go find some beetles and bugs.

While this little kiwi was hunting for something to eat a very cheeky stoat found her burrow and snuck inside to have a look and to the stoats surprise he found the egg inside. Quickly the sneaky stoat carried the egg outside so he could take it home but as he did so, he tripped and the egg slipped out of his hands and started rolling down the hill. Rapidly the stoat sprinted down the hill chasing after the egg. The little Kiwi is now returning home but she stops and hears something she gulps down her last bug and takes to the air flying around to see what the problem was. She spots the stoat running down the hill and sees her egg rolling down too! She catches up to her egg and swoops down to catch it, as she does so the stoat spots the little Kiwi and sneakily hides behind a bush.

As tired as a turtle she finally makes it back to her burrow, carefully places her egg in the nest and examines it.  After studying the egg she finds a little crack! “Oh no” She cried rubbing her egg better.

After having a quick nap she wakes to a CRACK! CRACKING! Noise and cheeps with delight. Her egg has hatched and the chick wants to fly. So they waddle outside to find that the chick can't fly!! Oh No what are they going to do? The little bird thinks, why can't her baby fly? She thinks and she thinks and she thinks and then she remembers. When the egg rolled down the hill her chick must have hurt its wings and now she can't fly. It’s alright as he cheers up her egg, everything is going to be fine.
So that is why nowadays Kiwis can't fly.
